The hardscape consisted of over 1,700 linear feet of natural stone walls, fountains, and the gateway sign. The natural stone selected was a veined Anamosa Limestone laid in third bond repeating with 6” high by 30” long units. The backup was originally designed with metal studs, however, due to moisture concerns we were able to have a block wall engineered to carry the load in a battered configuration. Maintaining the proper bond and heights following the grade changes away from the building was extremely challenging. Using 30” long units did not overlap with the larger radiused walls, however, the manufacturer made curved units for the tightest of curves. The natural beauty of the stone and masonry backup construction will last forever.
