The project consist of a square of four hallways enclosing an open atrium, and one “great hall” west of the atrium off one smaller hallway. The approx. size of the hallways is 300 linear feet. The open atrium is approx. 3600 sqft. The inner hallways of the atrium are actually walkways, they are arched and open to the atrium. The great hallway is off the West hallway (walkway) and is actually an extension living area – it is furnished now and faces the beach. All of this is part of the residence, downstairs from the main residence. All of these hallway consist of 36,000 brick on the ceilings. The clay brick are from California, Mcnear Brick. These brick were figured at 9 brick per square feet, standard brick is 7 brick to the square foot. They are thin, of approx. 1 5/8” width– every brick was cut to a thin brick of approx. 1/2” thick. For cost, they were double-faced brick, so we were able to get two brick out of one. For this reason, they only had to order 19,000 brick. As you can see in the pictures, the ceilings were wood frame then waterproofed and then we applied the brick with high-quality thin set. The big ceiling (the great hall) was 12,000 brick alone. As you can see in the pictures, the brick then flowed into the stone veneer halfway down the wall. The stone was sawed at the quarry to make a veneer stone. There was approx. 1,600 sqft. of stone in various places. The house also had 3 masonry fireplaces (I did these also), and 2 pizza ovens – one upstairs and one downstairs. Of the 3 fireplaces, one was outside on the balcony overlooking the Gulf. After the CO, I was not allowed upstairs or inside the house for more pictures. One of the brick ceilings was in the kitchen consisting of 2,000 brick.
