Commercial Institutional Category - American Muscle Car Museum
Project Description
The American Muscle Car Museum is located at 3500 Sarno Road, Melbourne. This 123,000 square foot facility displays over 250 muscle cars, many considered rare versions. The collection belongs to Mark Pieloch and the estimated worth of his collection is 32 million dollars.
The 501(c)3 museum, located on 42 acres includes 90,000 sqft of vehicle display area, an 18,000 sqft showroom, and an adjacent 15,000 sqft maintenance and restoration facility for the collection. This private museum hosts non-profit activities, fund raisers, and invitation car shows, and is otherwise not open to the general public. The museum includes a conservation area to restore cars. The facility is a "green" to include 100% solar using 1,200 solar panels that generate enough power to run the entire complex with excess power being sold back to the grid. The 123,000 square foot structure utilized five configurations of architectural block and three colors (Brown, Sandpebble, and Winter White). While the main structure is impressive by itself, there are three additional buildings and a privacy wall that lines the perimeter of the 42 acre complex all built using the same design. One critical design feature included a very tight specification for humidity/moisture control inside the main structure. We were very pleased that the owner and contractor both saw single-wythe masonry as the best option to address that need. All combined the project is compelling in its story line, magnificent to view, and efficient in its function...a true testimony to Masonry – The Intersection of Art, Innovation and Endurance. |
