The new residence for the University of Florida’s President is a two story, smart technology home on UF’s Village Drive. The new home is also referred to locally as “The Dasburg House” because of the generosity of John and Mary Lou Dasburg of Key Biscayne, who donated $3.5M of the estimated $5 million price tag. The privately funded home was designed by Ponikvar and Associates and built by Charles Perry Partners, Inc. The +/-5,500 square foot residence is certified LEED for Homes and Energy Star Programs and features four bedrooms, living and dining spaces, two studies, 5 ½ bath rooms, media/recreation room, and a warming and summer kitchens.
This project used a load bearing reinforced CMU wall system with insulation, Hanson Old Mecklenburg brick, and natural veneer limestone. The home had to incorporate elements that would blend it with the older adjacent campus structures. The brick with the use of limestone versus cast stone became the best method to accomplish this blending. |
