The Masonry Association of Florida, Inc. (MAF) Masonry Excellence Awards Program focuses the spotlight on the skilled MAF masonry contractors, architects and industry suppliers that are responsible for an array of outstanding masonry projects in the state of Florida.
The projects will be graded on a scale of 1 - 10 (1= poor and 10=best) in five categories, with a maximum high score of 50.
1. Prominence of Masonry – Masonry Volume
2. Degree of Difficulty
3. Innovative Design, Construction & Use of Masonry
5. Clean Job – Level Plumb, etc.
The project with the highest score in each category will receive first prize, a commemorative trophy and a $100 gift card from the Masonry Association of Florida. The highest score overall will win the 2016 Project of the Year, an additional trophy and another $200 gift card.
An MAF masonry contractor, producer or materials supplier may submit projects completed between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2016.
No re-entry of award winning projects – prior year submittals will be accepted provided they have not won awards in the past.
Masonry Contractor/Supplier must be a current member of the MAF in good standing, and the job must be completed in the state of Florida.
Each contractor or company may submit up to five projects. Each project must be submitted separately, with its own entry form and supporting documentation.
75% of the exterior structure must be made of masonry. Stand alone and or special features should reflect 100% masonry or masonry veneer. IE waterfalls, fireplaces,( brick, block, stone and glass block veneers)
The MAF reserves the right to reject any entry based on non-conformance to the specifications. Committee and/or Judges may disqualify entries based on their discretion.
There must be a minimum of two entries per category for the competition to be held. The MAF reserves the right to move entries to another category at their discretion.
Incomplete submissions will lose scoring points and may be disqualified.
